Koenigsegg has revealed the first customer example of its V8-powered Gemera at the Aurora Concours in Sweden. This hypercar features a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 engine, producing a combined output of 2,300 horsepower, and is limited to just 300 units with all slots already sold.
Koenigsegg's First V8 Gemera
At the Aurora Concours in Båstad, Sweden, Koenigsegg showcased the first customer version of its V8-powered Gemera, a notable addition to the hypercar's lineage. The car is finished in a striking Johan Röd color and features an interior of Engel Svart leather and Alcantara, accented with red stitching. Customizations include a premium Crystal Clear sound system and unique Ghosts on the Aircore seats.
Performance Specifications
The Gemera combines a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter hot V8 with Koenigsegg's Dark Matter electric motor, connected through the nine-speed Lightspeed Tourbillon Transmission (LSTT). This setup allows for four-wheel torque vectoring and delivers an impressive output of 2,300 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 2.0 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 240 mph.
A Milestone for Koenigsegg
Christian von Koenigsegg, the founder and CEO, described this moment as a significant milestone, stating, "Today is a big milestone for Koenigsegg, as we roll out the most technically advanced and most ambitious program in our history." The Gemera was conceived as a high-performance supercar that can comfortably seat four adults while providing ample luggage space.
Production and Availability
Originally revealed in 2020, the production of the Gemera is capped at 300 units, all of which are reportedly sold out. The starting price was set at $1.7 million, but fully specified V8 models are expected to exceed $2 million, marking a shift for Koenigsegg from its traditional low-volume, two-seat hypercars to a more versatile four-seat Mega GT design.
